The STEM Advisory Forums face to face event took place last Friday 5 June at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester and we are pleased to confirm that it was a huge success!
The day started with an overview of the Independent Review of the Primary Curriculum. This was followed by Jane Turner from the Science Learning Centre, East of England and Gareth Pimley from the Design and Technology Association talking about the proposed Programme of Learning for Scientific and Technological Understanding. This presentation was followed by questions from delegates and then discussion groups. Before lunch we heard feedback from each of the six groups.
After lunch Laurie Jacques from the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) talked about the proposed Programme of Learning for Mathematical Understanding and the core skill of Numeracy . This input was also followed by questions and a break-out session before a final plenary to hear feedback from the discussion groups.
Thank you to all of you who were able to attend and contribute to the days success. For those of you who were not able to be there, you can view each of our speakers presentations below.
